A few candid questions were asked by Sankrithi R, the founder of India Ascents.
Sajid Yousuf Shah is an activist, lawyer, CEO of The Real Kashmir News, communist, and a television debater based in Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir.
1. How did it feel when you got the opportunity to unfurl the Tiranga on top of the Lal
Chowk?
It was a pleasantly unexpected feeling when I was holding the Tiranga on top of Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) before hoisting and when they started playing the national anthem on the ground it gave me adrenaline and a gushing feeling of patriotism started running in my veins.
2. How did the people of Kashmir react after they saw you unfurl the tricolor?
On the whole, it was a magical experience for those Kashmiri Muslims who held onto their Indian Nationalist values through all these years of conflict and Pakistan's appeasement.
3. What are the changes that you want to see in Kashmir in the future?
I think the changes are already happening on the ground, people are already steering their minds away from conflict and towards growth, prosperity, and development.
4. What do you want to convey to the people of India. How can they contribute to the campaign for the betterment of Kashmir?
I want to invite private investors to Kashmir so that more jobs are created for youth here but of course, the investment must not be any such which can hamper the natural endowments of Kashmir like its natural beauty and environment, air, water, etc.
So we can have natural food processing companies that can boost agricultural business on the ground, we can have interior design companies which can boost our carpets and other handicrafts. We can have something like reliance trends which can boost local fashion attire.
We would like to thank Mr.Sajid Yousuf for taking the time to give us this interview despite his busy schedule. Thank you!
